Jwaneng and Oropa Mine Hospitals achieve cost reductions and revenue increases

Jwaneng, the place of small stones, and Orapa, the resting place for lions, are respectively home to the world’s richest and largest diamond mine by area. Debswana, a partnership between the De Beers company and the government of Botswana, who own and operate the mines established hospitals in Jwaneng and Orapa to serve their mine employees and surrounding communities. Both hospitals provide essential health services to more than 160,000 local patients every year. Jwaneng, a state-of-the-art, comprehensive healthcare facility provides district-level care and functions as a referral hospital to clinics within Jwaneng and its surrounds.

Debswana has contracted Healthshare’s services to provide optimisation and efficiency improvements, operational management of their healthcare facilities, and a feasibility study for both hospitals between 2006 and 2020.
