NSIA – LUTH engaged Healthshare’s services to commission and manage a state-of-the-art cancer treatment centre. The centre will provide comprehensive cancer treatments to patients as well as continuing education for healthcare professionals. Widely acknowledged as the largest outpatient cancer treatment centre in West Africa, it will have the capacity to serve about 3000 cancer patients every year.

Management of primary health care clinics and occupational health centres with shared hospital management responsibilities
Outcome:
Healthshare effected cost savings of 18% of total budgeted costs (approximately R70 million per annum)
The average in-patient days reduced from a baseline of 105 to 45 days in June 2014.
Healthshare also achieved its sick shift targets in the West Wits region. Driefontein sick shifts reduced from 3.36% in May 2013 to 2.71% in June 2014. Kloof sick shifts reduced from 4.13% in May 2013 to 3.16% in June 2014.

The first international standard hospital in The Gambia offering a range of specialist services not available currently in country.
The 60 bed Horizons Clinic will feature a comprehensive outpatients department and diagnostic service and will be the first international standard hospital in The Gambia offering a range of specialist (secondary & tertiary) services. Patients needing specialist care currently either do not receive it or have to travel abroad, at significant cost, to receive that care.
Healthshare has been selected to manage the Horizons Clinic and ensure that deliver quality healthcare that represents international best practice.
AL-KHADRA HOSPITAL

Description:
A 3 year management contract commenced 1 January 2008. A 27 member hospital management team was recruited and seconded to Healthshare International UK. The main aim was to implement international best practice, transform the hospital from a public to a private hospital and ensure international accreditation. Another aim was to convert this public hospital into a multidisciplinary private hospital and the hospital opened its doors to private patients in September 2008 (this aim was achieved 18 months ahead of schedule).
Outcome:
This is now the preferred hospital in Libya.
Various clinical successes included the reduction of infant deaths from 40 per month to 0 to1 per month
